The Ghirass Humanitarian Association seeks to secure 700 orphans in 2024, as the problem of the spread of orphans in the north of the Syrian Arab Republic and Arsal in Lebanon is still open.
Our Society ' s campaign targets children under the age of 15, with 270 children currently in foster care and 430 orphans on waiting lists.
Our Assembly has allocated two bail packages:
First to bail out an orphan for one month.
And the second to ensure an orphan for a whole year. 
 

Orphans are the weakest link in the community chain 

The file of orphaned children is a sensitive and open wound in areas of displacement. They have become orphans of one or both parents as an inevitable consequence of the war in Syria and the Bashar al-Assad regime continues to suppress its people. 
Orphans, of course, need support, assistance and basic survival needs. In Ramadan, they need more care, attention, basic needs and conditions to spend this blessed month. 
 
According to a report of the United Nations Children ' s Fund (UNICEF), UNICEF stated that there were approximately 1 million orphans in Syria, 90 per cent of whom were not guaranteed. 
Some 680,000 children live in camps for displaced persons north-west of Syria, a large proportion of whom are orphans, who find it difficult to cope with living conditions and suffer from major psychological, health and economic crises, as most of them find it difficult to secure life supplies and are absent from school, according to the United Nations report. 
In a separate previous statement, UNICEF warned that the 2023 earthquake and the years of conflict in Syria had left millions of children at increased risk of malnutrition. 
It documented that, according to United Nations data, "serious violations of children's rights" since the beginning of the conflict resulted in the killing or wounding of some 13,000 children in Syria. 
According to United Nations estimates, more than 609,900 children under 5 years of age in Syria suffer from chronic undernutrition and cause irreversible physical and mental harm to children. This affects their ability to learn and their productivity in adulthood.

وتستهدف جمعيتنا في حملتها الأطفال ممن هم دون 15 عاماً، إذ يبلغ عدد الأطفال المكفولين اليوم 270، فيما يوجد 430 طفل يتيم على قوائم الانتظار.

الأيتام أضعف حلقة في السلسلة المجتمعية

يعد ملف الاطفال الأيتام جرحاً حساساً ومفتوحاً في مناطق النزوح، فأصبحوا أيتام الأبوين أو أحدهما كنتيجة حتمية للحرب في سوريا وإمعان نظام بشار الأسد في قمع شعبه.

فالأيتام بطبيعة الأحوال يحتاجون إلى دعم ومساعدة وتوفير احتياجاتهم الأساسية للبقاء على قيد الحياة، وفي شهر رمضان، تزداد حاجتهم أكثر إلى رعاية والاهتمام وتلبية احتياجاتهم الأساسية وتوفير الظروف الملائمة لهم لقضاء هذا الشهر المبارك.

 

وبحسب تقرير لمنظمة الأمم المتحدة للطفولة “يونسف”، قالت أنه يوجد في سوريا قرابة المليون طفل يتيم، مشيرةً إلى أن 90% منهم غير مكفولين.

ويعيش في مخيمات النازحين شمال غرب سوريا ما يقارب 680 ألف طفل نسبة كبيرة منهم من الأيتام والذين يجدون صعوبةً في التأقلم مع العيش ويعانون من أزمات نفسية و صحية واقتصادية كبيرة إذ أن معظمهم يجدون صعوبات في تأمين المستلزمات الحياتية ومغيبين عن مقاعد الدراسة، بحسب تقرير الأمم المتحدة.

وفي تصريح سابق منفصل حذّرت اليونيسف من أن زلزال 2023 وسنوات النزاع في سوريا تركت ملايين الأطفال في خطر متزايد من الإصابة بسوء التغذية.

ووثقت أن "الانتهاكات الجسيمة لحقوق الأطفال" منذ بداية النزاع أسفرت عن قتل أو جرح حوالي 13 ألف طفل في سوريا، وفقًا لبيانات الأمم المتحدة.

وفقاً لتقديرات الأمم المتحدة، فإن أكثر من 609,900 طفل دون سن الخامسة في سوريا يعانون من التقزم الناجم عن نقص التغذية المزمن ويسبب أضرارًا بدنية وعقلية للأطفال لا يمكن التعافي منها. ويؤثر ذلك على قدرتهم على التعلم وإنتاجيتهم في مرحلة البلوغ.
