Hunger chases displaced Syrians!
Currently, about 12 million people in Syria - more than half of the population - face acute food insecurity. This is a 51% increase from 2019. 1.9 million people are at risk of slipping into hunger. Nutrition has become a serious problem with basic meals becoming a luxury for millions, according to the World Food Security Organization. Lack of food affects the education of children in northern Syria
According to the United Nations, Syrian families now spend on average, 50% more than they receive, which means borrowing money to make ends meet. This has led to "unbearable choices" including children, especially girls, dropping out of education and increasing child marriage.
